Best when a system is live but the original vendor is gone. We read the codebase, report on its real condition, and only then quote for maintenance.

Every step produces a written deliverable, so you never have to ask where the project stands.
We listen to the problem, ask about the parts that are unclear and tell you straight away whether it is something we can build. No charge for this step.
We analyse the business logic, break the work into line items and estimate effort and cost for each one, so you can see exactly where the budget goes.
The contract states deliverables, milestones, warranty terms, IP ownership and confidentiality. Deposit is paid and the project starts.
Interface designs are approved before any code is written. You get a staging URL from day one and can check progress whenever you like.
We test against the agreed functional checklist and clear the defects before inviting you to run acceptance yourself.

Good software is software that still runs well after we walk away.
Since our first project in 2011, I have asked myself one question before quoting any piece of work: will this system genuinely make the business lighter to run, or is it just one more piece of software that ends up abandoned?
That is why we decline work outside our competence, and why we hand over the full source code at the end. A client can leave at any time with the system still alive — and that is precisely what forces us to build it properly from the start, rather than retaining clients by holding the keys.
We have built systems we are proud of: a large-scale commerce platform, and a data system used by commune officials and schools. But what I value most is still the clients who come back a second and a third time.
